Location: Gandharpa Village, Khap Bankat Panchayat, Nautan Block, Siwan, Bihar
With the objective of encouraging sustainable agriculture and improving farmers’ livelihoods, a Farmers’ Workshop was organized under the banner of the Farmers Welfare Club in Gandharpa Village before the commencement of the Kharif cropping season.
The workshop focused on promoting modern agricultural techniques, with special emphasis on the cultivation of Kala Namak Rice, a premium aromatic rice variety known for its unique taste, nutritional value, and high market demand.
Serving as the Technical Coordinator for the program, software engineer and social worker Manoj Kumar Singh addressed the participating farmers and highlighted the economic benefits of adopting innovative farming practices.
He stated:
“Farmers can significantly improve their income by embracing modern agricultural technologies. Kala Namak rice is not only aromatic and nutritious but also offers excellent market value, making it a promising crop for strengthening farmers’ financial stability.”
The workshop also included practical training sessions on Kala Namak paddy cultivation, where participating farmers received guidance on best farming practices. To encourage adoption of the crop, around 30 farmers from Nautan, Mairwa, and Ziradei Blocks were each provided with one kilogram of Kala Namak paddy seeds free of cost.
In addition to crop diversification, the program featured awareness sessions on indigenous cow conservation and organic farming, promoting environmentally sustainable and cost-effective agricultural methods.
The event was inaugurated by Prakash Chandra Mishra, Founder of the Farmers Welfare Club, who emphasized that adopting new technologies and innovative cultivation techniques is essential for enhancing productivity and ensuring long-term prosperity for farmers.
The initiative reflects Manoj Kumar Singh’s continued commitment to empowering the farming community through knowledge sharing, technological innovation, and sustainable agricultural development.
