Farmers Welfare Club Guiding Farmers Towards Prosperity Through Modern Agriculture

Location: Nautan Block, Siwan, Bihar

The Farmers Welfare Club, jointly led by Agriculture Coordinator Prakash Chandra Mishra and software engineer and social worker Manoj Kumar Singh, has emerged as a driving force in promoting sustainable agriculture and improving the livelihoods of farmers across the region.

Operating from Khap Bankat Panchayat, the organization is committed to helping economically weaker farmers become self-reliant by introducing them to modern farming practices, high-value crops, and innovative agricultural techniques.

Empowering Farmers Through Knowledge and Support

The club provides farmers with:

  • Free distribution of quality seeds
  • Training on modern and sustainable farming methods
  • Technical guidance from agriculture experts
  • Awareness programs on crop diversification and organic cultivation
  • Support for improving productivity and farm income

Over time, the initiative has attracted participation from farmers and agricultural experts from Siwan, Saran (Chhapra), and Gopalganj, including officials from the Agriculture Department and experienced professionals who regularly mentor local cultivators.

Promoting Kala Namak Rice Cultivation

One of the club’s flagship initiatives has been the promotion of Kala Namak rice, a premium aromatic variety known for its distinctive fragrance, nutritional value, and high market demand.

To encourage adoption, the Farmers Welfare Club distributed Kala Namak paddy seeds free of cost to farmers across Nautan, Mairwa, Ziradei, Sadar Block, and parts of Gopalganj district.

As a result:

  • Around 40 farmers participated in the initiative.
  • The crop was cultivated across nearly 50 acres of farmland.
  • Despite lower-than-average rainfall, farmers reported encouraging yields and healthy crop growth.

A Vision for Sustainable Prosperity

Speaking about the initiative, Manoj Kumar Singh emphasized that empowering farmers with modern technology and high-value crops is essential for strengthening rural economies.

“When farmers adopt innovative techniques and quality crops, they can increase productivity, improve income, and build a more secure future for their families and communities.”

Inspiring Rural Transformation

The Farmers Welfare Club continues to work toward making agriculture more profitable and sustainable by combining traditional knowledge with modern practices. Through continuous training, expert guidance, and community participation, the initiative is inspiring farmers to embrace innovation and create new opportunities for growth and prosperity across the region.
