Date: 1 June
Location: Nautan Block, Siwan, Bihar
In a significant step towards promoting environmental awareness, social worker and software engineer Manoj Kumar Singh launched a large-scale Environmental Conservation Campaign across Nautan Block, encouraging citizens to take responsibility for protecting nature and ensuring a sustainable future.
Responding to his call, local leaders, social workers, youth volunteers, and environmental enthusiasts joined the campaign with banners, posters, and saplings, spreading awareness about the importance of tree plantation and ecological balance.
The campaign commenced near the Ashoka Pillar in Kurmauta Village and proceeded through various locations in the block, where participants planted trees and urged residents to reconnect with nature. Saplings of Peepal, Neem, Jamun, and Guava were planted at public institutions and community spaces, including the Nautan Block Headquarters, Murarpatti Panchayat Bhawan, schools, and other prominent locations.
Addressing the participants, Manoj Kumar Singh expressed concern over rising temperatures and climate change. He emphasized that excessive deforestation, misuse of water resources, and environmental degradation pose serious threats to future generations.
He stated:
“If we fail to act today, the coming generations will face severe environmental challenges. It is our collective responsibility to protect nature by planting trees, conserving resources, and creating a cleaner and healthier environment for the future.”
The campaign also served as a platform to educate people about sustainable living and community participation in environmental protection.
Among those who actively participated were Murarpatti Mukhiya Havaldar Ansari, Nitish Maurya, Dr. B.L. Singh, Yogendra Singh, Chhotelal, Devendra, Prashant, Manish, Yugul Kishore, Munna Singh, Pintu Singh, Shrinivas Singh, Shambhu Yadav, and dozens of local youth volunteers.
